I’m pretty sure that if I hadn’t found Sit Means Sit, my dog would have very possibly needed to be re-homed or euthanized. She was reactive around all dogs and would just go nuts biting at the air, lunging, and making the worst sounds. She truly sounded like cujo. I was trying all sorts of training techniques and was getting no where. I tried a positive only trainer (and paid a lot) and they were great! …for other dogs. Nothing I was doing phased my dog and I was getting to my wits end. My friends all thought I had a viscous dog based on how she acted around dogs even though she’s so sweet! I finally decided to try Sit Means Sit even though it was more expensive than I original planned on spending for training. It was basically my last ditch effort before looking into other permanent options. Within 10 minutes of my free consultation, Mike Wheeler had my dog sitting directly next to his dog and she was quiet and had her full attention on him. I signed up for 4 private lessons 9 months ago and once the private lessons were done, I attended the group classes that come with every package twice a week and plan to do so for the rest of Guada’s life (the classes are for the life of the dog). She has gone from an insane, out of control dog, to the dog that everyone compliments and can’t believe how obedient she is. After 9 months of training, I will be the first person to admit she is still not perfect (still a big spaz). If a dog comes out very unexpectedly at close range, she will still have a difficult time staying calm, but if there is a dog outside of 50 feet that we have time to prepare for, she can stay within her threshold most of the time, no problem. Also, even the unexpected dogs will only make her lose her composure for about 20 seconds, vs. the 5-20 minutes I had to endure before Sit Means Sit. She also has tons of dog buddies now! That was definitely something I never thought was possible before! Because we finally got her to the point of being able to be around dogs without losing it, we figured out that matching her temperament and doing a proper introduction was all we needed to find dog friends! Something I NEVER would have dared doing while I thought she was aggressive. I seriously can’t recommend this training program enough. I’ve recommended it to so many people and will continue to do so.
